Prisoners by John Outsider and Bren
A man in prison considers his freedom, and confronts a guard forcing the guard to question his role as a prison guard. Will the guard look into this further? What will be the consequences? "Prisoners" is an 18 page comic with a shocking and profound ending which questions what it means to be imprisoned, and what we consider to be free.
Prisoners was written by John Outsider, with hand drawn art by Bren.
"Prisoners" contains some scenes of violence.

Prisoners is the first collaboration between John Outsider and Bren. John is an asylum seeker and prolific writer residing in Hong Kong. Drawing on his personal experiences of diverse borders, legal systems, religion, cultural norms and physical restraint his work explores perceptions of freedom, well-being, and personal identity.
Bren is an artist and leads a relatively comfortable and boring life. He spent three months drawing Prisoners by hand with brush and ink on paper, while working a full time job which often seemed like a different kind of prison. Prisoners is his second self-published comic.

Drawing comics is hard!
It's probably the hardest way to be an illustrator or an artist. Drawing comics requires a high degree of skill, figure drawing and character design, advanced perspective and technical drawing, environment design, storytelling, colour, line... It also requires a lot of planning and research. Currently I do all of this in my own time, for free, because it's what I love and I want to share it with the world.
If you enjoy these comics and appreciate what I do, please consider leaving me one-off tip or donation via my Ko-Fi page if you feel you can. It costs less than a cup of coffee in London, and makes a huge difference to me .
