I'm exhibiting - "Urban Light" Photography Exhibition - , AIA Carnival Hong Kong
I've been selected with a small group of other artists for a Photography Exhibition in Hong Kong, "Urban Light". The exhibition runs from 9th February - 14th February 2025, at the AIA Carnival in Central Hong Kong.
While my primary focus is currently drawing and illustration, I've been taking photographs for a long time. Maybe 15-20 years or so. Street photography has always been a keen interest for me.
Photography is a different form of observing and storytelling to drawing and painting. While it may seem that the only effort involved is clicking a shutter button, it actually requires a keen eye for composition and the ability to observe and react quickly when a composition happens.
Interesting visual compositions and stories happen all the time around us, being a photographer means being aware of them, observing them, and knowing how to compose a shot with the camera you have quickly. For me it means telling stories while respecting the environment and the people I share it with.
This photo is from Kai Tak Airport, Hong Kong. It's a candid shot, although I did show it to the guy in the photo and subsequently sent it to him on Instagram. He loved the photo and shared some of his drink with me. Good times.
